Radio America 900: The Hispanic Voice of Maryland
Radio America 900 is an iPhone application that allows users to listen to the only Hispanic-owned and operated radio station in Wheaton, Maryland. The station broadcasts from Laurel, Maryland, and serves the growing Hispanic community in the area. Alejandro Carrasco, the station's owner, has been referred to as the "Hispanic voice of the radio" by the Washington Post and has produced and hosted the area's oldest Hispanic program, "Calentando La Mañana," for 31 years.
The station's mission is to inform, educate, empower, and entertain the Hispanic community of the United States' capital. In addition to the live broadcast, listeners have the option to listen to pre-recorded programs such as "Informativo Mundial," "El consultorio Comunitario," "El Mundo de los Deportes," and "La Mesa Redonda del Fútbol."
